Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled
  		Save the new Output to a Text File and....
  • Click the Reply button and attach as .txt file OR
  • Click here to Email us with the file attached, and a link to your post

Hardware is registrated too many times

Hi,

today, i tried to install the trail-version on a windows 8.1 system with visual studio 2013 and arduino 1.5.5.

But the add-in was not loaded complete. The options at "Tools" ("Boards", "Serial Ports"...) are empty and the option to create a new project is disabled.

So I uninstall the add-in and install it new, but then there was a message, that my hardware was registrated too man times. I canceled the first window, after that, the add-in was loaded incomplete as the first time.

Is there a solution for these problem?

Hi, Sorry you are having a problem. 

The trial relates only to the debugger so we ca ignore that for now.

Is the <Configuration Manager> option available on the Tool bar Boards List? If you click it and select Arduino 1.5.x what locations are displayed?

The options on toolbar is disabled.

But at the Visual Studio properties I can set the location of arduino. For Arduino 1.5.x it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino.

The output of Micro Build prints "Ready".

The Version is 1.5.5. I also 1.5.2 and 1.0.5 (after I configure the add-in new).

Okay thank you for the information. 

Sorry you have this problem. You are the 2nd user to have this problem with Visual Studio 2013. If we can not solve it we will add more diagnostics to the next release of Visual Micro which is due shortly.

Please try or report these things.

1)
Confirm that the first two checkboxes are ON for "Visual Micro" in "Tools>Addin Manager"?

2)
Please click "Tools>Options>Visual Micro>Reset User Interface". Wait for Visual Studio to close (save first if required) and then it will restart. Does this fix the problem?

3)
Set "Tools>Options>Visual Micro>User Interface Trace=True" then restart Visual Studio and post in this thread what appears in the output window after Visual Studio starts.

4)
Start Visual Studio as Administrator to see if there is a difference?

Only the fist checkbox are on. If i click the second box and restart vs, it will be off again.

Sorry, but I do not find this option.

Hi,

Normally when Visual Studio turns off a checkbox it also displays a message to say there has been an error. In this case I don't know why you do not see an error but that fact that the checkbox called "Start" is off is certainly a problem that Visual Studio should be reporting.

1)

Can I assume that you have the C++ module installed for Visual Studio 2013? Can you create a new Visual Studio Win32 project okay?

2)

If you have C++ installed then we have to consider the following as a possible solution to this problem.

I suspect (guessing) you have a problem with VS 2013 that has been reported by a couple of users. They have found that they need to have Visual Studio 2012 installed on their machine (it does NOT need to be activated)

We will corrected this confusion in the next release but other users report this not to be a problem. However I am sorry if this not the problem and installing 2012 wastes your time.

I look forward to hearing the results and appreciate your patience. If this continues to be a problem until the next release you can install Atmel Studio 6.1 which is based on Visual Studio 2010 and is free.

The chechbox "Start" is on. "Commandline"(?) is unchecked.

OK, so I will install 2012 and wait for an fix. Thank you for your friendly help and happy holiday,

Okay thanks, so the addin is loaded OK I would expect the need for 2012 to show up when you attempt to open a sketch but it won't do any harm to install it other than lost time. 

Please also email to info [at] visualmicro.com a screen shot of your Arduino 1.5.x location configuration setting and confirm if you have any user libraries in "my documents\Arduino\Libraries"?

today I installed vs 2012 on the same machine, now it works, with vs 2012 and 2013.

Ok, thanks very much for confirming the solution. It is strange that Visual Studio did not give you an on-screen error.

The next version of VM will certainly include separate assemblies for 2013. We shared VS 2012 in the last release because it saved time and appeared to work.
