Message when loading/saving Teensy solution/project (Atmel Studio)

Hello All
First post .
I installed atmel studio 6.2 over the weekend, together with Visual Micro.
I am using a Teensy 3.1 board, and have set up the teensyduino bits and bobs correctly.
I can create a new project ( simple hello world) , or import an existing sketch, compile it correctly ( after having set the relevant project directives) use the debugger with no problem.
The issue is, I save the solution and close it. Come back and open it and I get the following pop up

The project 'test' contains a device 'mk20dx256' which is not supported by atmel studio. Please select another device.

It then presents a device dialog box ( no mk20dx256 in the list) .
I cancel that dialog, and then the project is not useable. It fails to compile, and it wont event let me fix the project directives ( which are now missing.) .

I hope someone can help with this . I really like the product, and will definitely buy a debug license once it is stable.

I have tried removing and re-installing atmel and visual micro .
Tried using just Visual Studio integrated shell 2010 and visual micro, but couldn't get the boards lists etc to appear.

Many thanks

John Maher.

Hi John,

Visual Micro manages all of the settings if it believes you have a valid arduino project.

Make sure the sketch folder name, master.ino and atmel project name all match

Shell probably is not supported unless you alter the config files. Vs pro and above or atmel studio are fully supported

Thanks

Thanks Tim
I tinkered with it for a couple of hours last night, and gave up .
I couldnt get to the botttom of it , but same symptoms .
Create a project, save solution, open the same solution and the error presents itself.

I then removed everything, and found atmel 6.1 (June 2013 flavour)  on their archive site . I installed that followed by visual micro and it all works 100% .
So , back to tinkering with the electronics tonight .
Lost four days on the eval license though .

Ill let you know how I get on.

Cheers

John

Hi John,

If your eval license ends let me know and I will send you another 30 days.

I'll give teensy a try in 6.2 and see what happens.

Thanks

John,

I've been testing this and can not find a problem. However this problem would appear if you set the Visual Micro Arduino 1.0.x application to point to a Teensy version of Arduino.

Can we be clear that when you Teensy board is select the Tools>Visual Micro menu shows Tools>Visual Micro (Teensy). This would confirm that the correct Visual Micro application path has been configured.

If not I can explain more

Thanks

Hi Tim,
Yes I can confirm that that is the case .
I go around the whole problem by removing atmel studio and installing visual studio professional 2013 , fortunately I have an msdn subscription. Everything works just fine with that  Smiley .

Hi John,

The mistake you made was to configure Arduino 1.0.x application in Visual Micro. You should have configured the Teensy application entry instead.

So there was no problem to get around  Smiley

2013 is better anyway
