Hello

I have Visual Studio 2013 and installed visual micro full. However I cannot seem to have the templates that allow me to create projects. When I click on File->New Project I cannot find any template. Is this not updated yet for VS 2013?

Kindly advise.

Hi,

Please see "opening an Arduino sketch" or "creating a new project" in the Document at the top of visualmicro.com

Thanks

Hello

Thank you for you reply, I have Visual Studio Ultimate 2013. When I click File->New Project which lists all templates available, I cannot find Sketch Project. I have already checked the pages you are pointing to but they only say that I should press on File->New which will allow me to create a Sketch project.

Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

Okay thanks for explaining sorry if it's a bit confusing.

Instead of clicking the "File>New>Project" menu item can you see a menu item called "File>New>Sketch Project"? It is below the "New>Project" menu.

If you can not see the menu item then please click "Tools>Visual Micro>Reset User Interface" then it should appear.

Thanks

Oh I see.

Yes a couple of other users have a File menu that looks like yours. I am not sure which layout you selected when VS first loaded but usually the File>New is a menu item with sub menus for Project, Solution, Sketch Project etc.

Visual Micro also attempts to add "New Sketch Project" to the "New" button on the tool bar.

You will also be missing File>Open>Sketch Project because you don't have a File>Open with sub menus. (However you can use File>open>File to open existing Arduino sketch.ino)

All Visual Micro commands exist as macros so you can easily drag them onto the UI and position them as required. Click "Tools>Customize>Commands>Menu Bar>File" and you will find that you can "add commands". Visual Micro commands from the 'Addins' section of the macros list look for the VM icon on "New Sketch Project" or "Sketch Project".

I'll try to get some auto detection for the simpler VS layout and add the commands automatically in future releases.

Thanks! I have added it to the menu from the commands settings. Totally appreciate it! Smiley

Note: If you make them templates they will appear in the project type list. This way it will be easier.

Regards,

Great.

The problem is that for each VS version I have to make a separate compile because the C++ api keeps changing. Same for templates, they would normally require a template for each VS version. So the "New Sketch" feature circumvents all the VS rubbish/goodness  Smiley

You are right, it is planned to have templates and recently they were added to the Atmel Studio version of Visual Micro. because Atmel is free I can require people to upgrade and therefore support just one version of the Ide.

Thanks for the update
