Missing Due? (6.2 with 1.6.4 )

Returning user and just installed the latest Visual micro.
( On Atmel Studio 6.2 )
Works as expected with Uno, however there is no Due option in Boards menu.
My Due works fine using just Arduino IDE.
Google did not provide a clue what I missed, it used to work with 1.6.0 IDE.
PS I do get an pull down box allowing for Due programming port, but no Due board to select so I guess the Due is identified somehow. Confused.

Any help will be appreciated as always.

Never mind, found it.
I guess my older version of 1.6.4 did not have "Board manager".
Just wandering if Arduino folks publish SAME release updates.
Cheers

Hi,

Visual Micro follows the Arduino release updates. Arduino 1.6.2 included the boards manager and Visual Micro produced a similar Board manager a few weeks later.

Not sure which one you used but should both work the same way.

Hello Tim,
as a  historical note.
When I switched to Due I used 1.6.0. and than 1.6.4 November something. There were never any need to use Board (manager) to have access to Due both on Arduino IDE and ATmel Studio. The latest 1.6.4.does have "Board Manager" and Due is NOT part of the default load.
Make sense, less clutter.
In same cluteress spirit, I wonder if I can uninstall all  and keep just Due.
Cheers Vaclav

Hi,

There is some confusion. Arduino 1.6.2 was only released this year, February I think.

When you say uninstall and just keep Due do you mean how do you remove the AVR boards from the list?

If so then you can probably just delete the arduinoide\hardware\arduino\avr folder.

It's confusing because SAM is still installed with the ide yet SAM must be downloaded.

On Monday they release the Arduino Zero and 1.6.5. I expect there will be a new downloadable option for SAMD.

It's fun at the moment. Sort of!
