Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled
  		Save the new Output to a Text File and....
  • Click the Reply button and attach as .txt file OR
  • Click here to Email us with the file attached, and a link to your post
Support requests without the output above may be impossible to answer, so please help us to help you

Help! VM version 1507.25 not working!

Not only is it not working it has killed VS 2010, 2012, and 2013 on my system!!!!!


Atmel studion 6.2 sp2 still launches but there is no VM boxes on the tool bar and no visual micro in the tools drop down.

I have read the FAQ and gone into the tools>options>security and verified the path to my VM installation is correct and the load at startup is checked!

I have rerun the install and removed and then rerun the install and when I launch any version of VS 2010, 2012, and 2013 they all grey screen and crash when the VM addon tries to load!

I remove VM and then I can launch all three version of VS again!

All three version of VS were working fine with VM until I tried to install the new version 1507.25.

Now I am totally screwed as I have a contract job I am in the middle of and I am now scrambling to roll my entire machine back to the last working version of VM.

I will post screen shots of what I am seeing.  When I uninstall VM then all four version of VS will launch but I have greyed out boxes where you set the microcontroller board and serial port.

I have been fighting with this going on 6 hours now and I am 10 minutes from getting a club and just beating the piss out of my computer I am getting so mad!

Sorry to hear that I'll pull the version and revert to previous.

You can sort it out by uninstalling visual micro

If you confirm that works I will point you to an earlier version, if not I will tell you the reg key to remove

The version has been reverted to run the installer, click uninstall, then run again and click install

ps: Visual micro doesn'#t change any core vs or atmel files. So the crash was the release of visual micro. It won't have damaged your vs installs.

UPDATE

Info v1507.25 is now beta

The release on visualmicro.com has been reverted to the previous stable version. 

The last version is now shown as the beta download The beta still contain the crash for some users. If anyone gets the startup crash  then please try to click "Debug" or "More Info" and post any detail. Thanks!

What I will do is before I revert is install the beta once again and grab the debug info to help you sort out the issue.

I just rolled out of bed here.  I was up until dawn trying to figure out what was going out.  I am glad to hear it appears to be a known issue and not something I dumb thumbed.

Since I cannot open the debugger in the crashing version of vs if I open it in another version like 2015 since VM does not install there is the a way to dump any information that will be helpful to you (like a stack trace)?

The stack trace would be great but maybe I only need to know the name(s) of the first and last "Visual.Micro" function names but the more info you can give about stack trace names will help.

Are you sure you changed the build on the DL page to .05?

I just uninstalled .25 and installed .05 and all my VS's are still crashing.

When I go to programs and features it still says version 1507.25 is installed and both installers I have seem to be the same?

In the attached folder I grabbed the screen shot of the version that shows up in progs and features and you can see it still says 1507.25.

Also I grabbed screen shots of the two loader .exes and you can see they are exactly the same size.

I also grabbed shots of the debug screen for the crash.  I am not sure how to get a dump of the results you need though. 

and things just keep getting more funner - I have been grabbing screenshot all night from all the crashes but the rar is 760kb so I Cannot upload it (.  I will stick them all in an imgur abum and post the link in another reply.

Hi,

Yes the main download is certainly not .25. It's going to be that the Microsoft installer decided a new version is installed so did nothing.

Either click the Remove option then run again and Install or remove from programs and features then install

pps: Thanks for the images but they don't show anything useful. If you can grab stacktrace images that would be very useful thanks otherwise don't worry I am sure I will find a way to reproduce over the next few days.

But I did uninstall 1507.25 before installing the version I just downloaded from the site (1507.05).  Are the .exe's exactly the same size and when I go to properties they are exactly the same revision same build date and time

I've can see the dates of the files at the server but anyway please just use the links on the download page. Either the main link or the beta link, please do not save to your local machine just run whichever you want.

Ijust confirmed it.  When I click download latest I am getting 1507.25 not 1507.05!

I rolled back to the last copy I had which is 15.06.3000 and I can now see visual micro in all three versions of VS. 

I'd rather have 1507.05 though if I cannot run .25.

Also I now have another problem in that I upgraded my arduino ide to 1.65 and I do not get the 1.65 option when I go to the configure board.

and just to add more frustration I do not think my license is working anymore!!!!!

This is turning into a real bloody nightmare.

Sounds like your pc is getting confused with download files.

I just clicked the links on the download page and installed each into a different folder so that I could compare the file date times. 1507_05 installed dlls dated 23rd July and 1507_25 installed files dated 25th July.

yeah you definately might want to check the "download latest version" link on the download page.

I just downloaded and install 1507.05 sp6 from the link above and it appears to be working.   

Take a look at the screen shot you can see 1507.25.exe and 1507.05.exe have the same file size and revision and 1507.05sp6 that I got from the archive is different.

1507.05sp6 installed and appears to be working.  I will just have to roll my arduino install back to 1.6 I guess until you can work out the issue with 1507.25.

I do appreciate your help on this.  Sorry if I seem frustrated or impatient.  I lost an entire day yesterday that I wanted to be working on my job and it's now 3pm and I am tired and kind of cranky.

well it appears I am blocked from added images?  I have no option on the forum to add an attachment now.  lol if I was not really grouchy right now this would almost start to become funny.

Here is an imgur link showing that 1507.05 downloaded from the download page appears to be the same as 1507.25.

Why did you have to roll back your arduino install?

According to the download page it says I need 1507.25 to use arduino 1.65?

Did I misunderstand something?  I have not rolled it back yet.

Sorry the statement on the download page was misleading. It related purely to the arduino zero.

You can use most versions from the past couple of months with 1.6+
