Helpful details on using Atmel Studio 6.x for Arduino

I found a tutorial that gives information on how to use Atmel Studio for an Arduino project by creating a C++ project. These details are probably taken care of by Visual Micro, but it is interesting to see just what may be required:

I have experienced some of the errors that were reported in the comments, such as renaming core.a.

I have not tried this yet, and the information is rather old, so it might no longer apply to newer versions of AS and VS.

Hi,

Yes they are taken care of by visual micro and it also supports the .ino files that Atmel Studio does not.

I appreciate your trying to post about atmel studio but it is a different solution for a different set of users.

I hope you don't mind my saying that it is well documented on the internet and only confuses and diverts people from following the Visual Micro and Arduino documentation.

I think for most users it is useful to first discover what Arduino is before they can determine if it is the right platform or if a native project would be better. It depends on the audience as explained previously.

Please keep in minds that atmel, microchip, arduino all sell hardware and have huge resources. Visual micro is mainly free with a paid version for a few users. It's mainly a community service and only has time to focus on people who want to work with Arduino. and I only have so many hours in the day Smiley

Hope that makes sense. Thanks
