Debugging Trial Stopped Working?
Apr 20th, 2016 at 4:26pm
Print Post
Last weekend I upgraded the Arduino IDE to 1.6.8, the ESP8266 core to the latest stable version, Visual Studio to Update 2 and I upgraded to the latest version of vMicro. Could it be that because of one or more of those updates the debugging trial no longer works? If I am not mistaking, the 45 days have not passed yet but I see no option to verify that (Help | About?).
Thanks in advance.

Wow, that is super fast support!

Thanks, will send an email right away. Windows user is still the same. I would like to upgrade to Pro soon but I need to find out if one of the upgrades didn't interfere with the Debug possibility. I still can upload with Debug on but all breakpoints etc are ignored.

That's easier said than done Smiley The menu collapses as soon as I want to take a screen shot. I'll find a way though...

I tried that but the menu closes before the screen shot is taken. I succeeded with Snipping Tool and a delay, though. I will send you the menu via email.

Or tell me if "Automatic Debugging" is a visible option and if so is it ticked?

+ send Ide screenshot after build.

There is no point in looking at the trial until we confirm your config.

Thanks

Thanks for the screen shot. Your trial is still active.

Is the toolbar set to "Release" or "Debug/Local windows debugger"?

Thanks

Currently it is set to Release because Debug no longer works anyway. You want me to retry?

OK, I retried. And now it works...

The Mega was connected to COM4, Serial is showing Serial| COM4, the menu bar shows COM4) but somehow there was an extra window behind my 'Expressions on COM4' window called 'Expressions on COM6'. That while there is no COM6 on my pc. When I clicked the gear icon (between the open Serial Monitor icon and the Add Library drop down) the Local Port was set to COM6 but on the last line it said 'Upload Port/IP COM4'. I changed the upper from COM6 to COM4, closed the second 'Expressions on' window and now it works again.

Okay sounds like it was trying to debug on com6.

When the trial ends the debug will not even attempt to start and the debug menu items disappear from the vMicro menu.

Thanks for the update.

ps: If you do want to monitor a different port without changing the default debug/upload port of the project then use "View>Other Windows>Arduino Port Monitor"

Thanks a lot for the clarification about the items disappearing and your support in general. For now COM4 works fine.

Is there any way I can see how many days are left? I recall that I saw a count-down somewhere but I cannot seem to find it anymore.
