Before logging an issue, please update to the latest release of Visual Micro from the Downloads Page.

When Logging a Support Issue in the Forum, please ensure you have also:-

  • Enabled vMicro > Compiler > Show Build Properties
  • Re-Compile your program with these settings enabled
  		Save the new Output to a Text File and....
  • Click the Reply button and attach as .txt file OR
  • Click here to Email us with the file attached, and a link to your post
Support requests without the output above may be impossible to answer, so please help us to help you

Serial Monitor and Library Manager won't open

Hi there,
i am pretty new to Visual Studio and I don't know what to do.

I installed Visual Studio Community 2017 and added the Arduino IDE by Visual Micro. When I did so, everything went fine. After messing up an installation I had Visual Studio repaired. Since then the Serial Monitor and the Library Manager (Download and install Arduino Library) within vMicro won't open anymore, nothing happens.
I reinstalled vMicro, reinstalled Visual Studio, used an VS Uninstaller for leftovers etc. But nothing changes, everything works except for the Serial Monitor and the Library Manager.

Since I don't know what to do now, can you maybe help me and give some advice? This is really frustrating for me, because I do not have the time for such problems right now.

when vs is open what path is in "tools>options>visual micro>version>assembly"

It is becoming really awkward now. Yesterday in the late evening everything worked normallly, I didn't change a thing. Today, didn't change a thing again, it isn't working anymore...

Assembly path now is:

Hi,

Sorry to hear of the problem. I have been producing and supporting visual micro for 8 years and have never encountered a report of this type of issue.

I have some questions.

Does build work?

Can you open the micro explorer?

Do you see a list of boards?

Test: Do you see a menu item call vMicro>try, buy, activate? If so click it. Does a window open?

Thinking about your report and the fact you are new to visual studio.

If the project builds okay then I think visual micro is OK

It is possible you have docked and minimized the tool windows (serial and micro explorer)

Please show a full screen shot of you Ide

Hi again, thanks for your effort.
I think I found the 'problems'. Problem 1 is sitting right in front of the computer. Problem 2 is window's awful window management. I have TV connected as a second monitor via a HDMI switch and windows and even when Visual Studio opens on the primary monitor, those popup windows like the Serial Monitor sometimes open on the TV even when it is turned off... I did not think of this at the beginning because VS opened correctly.
