Build and build and upload

Hi - I have recently moved into atmel studio 7 and VM to edit arduino sketches. However, the 'Build' and 'Build and Upload' buttons are disabled in my Atmel 7 IDE.

I have opened the VM solution file for the arduino sketch and it all seems to load up ok, I can edit and save etc, but can't upload. I have a mega 2560 board on com3 - this shows in the VM ide.

I can upload the skecth no prob if I use the arduino IDE

Thanks for any help.
Paul

If you project name, the folder name and an .ino name do not match then visual micro will go to sleep and leave the project alone.

To open an existing arduino sketch that works in the arduino ide,  use File>Open>Arduino Project. Make sure you do not have a solution open before clicking the menu item.

If you use that menu item then visual micro will create a solution and project with the correct names. If you create projects manually then ensure the name rules mentioned above are followed.
