Can I run VSMicro in parallels using macOS version of Arduino IDE

Hi Tim et al

I have visual studio running on Win10 in parallels on my iMac, and use it successfully to code in a range of languages.

At present, I run the macOS version of the Arduino IDE obviously in macOS.

Will VSMicro work in the Visual Studio version running in parallels without having to install a copy of Arduino IDE in the Win 10 environment?

I’m keen to keep using vs instead of the poor ide that is Arduino 2.

Ta

Sorry we missed this. You have the NoIde option in visual micro that works without arduino IDE.

The only two things provided to visual micro by an Arduino IDE are 1) Built in Arduino AVR and 2) built in Libraries. Both can be downloaded using Board Manager and Library Manager. Therefore the Arduino IDE is never required.

Thanks for the info here, Tim.  I did manage to get the Arduino extension running with VSCode on MacOS which does have its faults, is not so bad, and is a lot better than the ArduinoIDE.

I may again look into Visual Micro as I was initially impressed when I saw it.  I am only an amateur wannabe dev, mainly playing with my own stuff, but I do have some ideas in mind and have been experimenting using ESP32S3's (Mainly M5Stack and LilyGo devices which have built in screens) on some larger projects which subsequently integrate with other equipment which could develop into a broader (and very specific) user-base.

VSCode does cater for this size of project, but Visual Studio running Visual Micro I imagine, would be significantly better.

I do have one or two apps on the Apple Store, and used Xcode for these, so very much appreciate the significant added advantages of a feature rich IDE.
