Will Visual Micro support the ST-LINK V3 as a native debugger on board ?

Could you attach a build log with the Verbose and Show Build Properties options enabled as shown at the top of the page?

This is just so we can be sure we can test this with the correct board package and versions to ensure we give the correct detail.

Thanks for the log, we will look into adding the STLink Debugger to the preconfigured list for the Portenta.

When we have a working configuration using overrides in the existing setup, we will update this thread.

You mention an on-board STLink, to our knowledge the only in-built capability for debugging is the MRI (Software) Option.  The JLink/STLink need the breakout board and the external probe.

Could you confirm if we are missing something, or if you are using a different STM32H7 board?

Yes exactly.

Portenta H7 needs an additional board:
Portenta Breakout or Portenta Hat Carrier
and
external ST-LINK V3 debugger.
Yes exactly.

The ST-LINK V3SET debugger includes cables in the box that are compatible with both Breakout and Hat Carrier boards.
I have both expansion boards.

What I meant was that VisualMicro should support the ST-LINK V3 with the option to select this debugger, just like J-LINK.

Currently, Visual Micro provides the option to select ST-LINK V3 for uploading sketches.
I use it because it works exceptionally fast.

Understood, and thanks for confirming.

We will update when we have a tested configuration available, and we will add it to the preconfigured list in the next release once it is available.
